The US Open history dates all the way back 1881. The first event was held at the Newport Casino. In 1887, the US Women's National Singles Championship was held at the Philadelphia Cricket Club and two years later, the Women's National Doubles Championship along with U.S. Mixed Doubles Championship was first played. The first US Open Championships was held in 1968 and for the first time in the history of the tournament professionals were allowed to compete.
