About L’Etoile Sport

Founders & Story

A personal interest in finding fashionable athletic wear is at the root of CEO and Creative Director Yesim Philip’s vision. When She and Hannah Griswold went looking for chic, sophisticated apparel to wear on the tennis court, and couldn’t find exactly what they were looking for, they decided to get to work. The result, high fashion, high function, luxury tennis. Philip’s focus from the beginning has been on comfort, functionality, and style. Coco Chanel famously stated that she “invented sports suits for me. Not because other women were playing sports, but because I was playing them.” The same is true with Philip, whose background as a professional athlete influences every aspect of her designs. As Philip explains, “The styles are created for me. I want to look good on the court and off.” As a result, L’Etoile sport was born. The company launched its first on-and-off the court collection in July 2012, at Meadow Club, exclusive club in Southampton, New York. Philip is dedicated to keeping alive the tradition of tennis as a fashion forward sport, infusing her line with the glamour of tennis wear past. A the top of her of list of muses is Suzanne Lenglen, who caused a sensation nearly a century ago winning Olympic gold at Antwerp in a kit by Patou, marking a tennis fashion standard for modern women. In honor of the sport’s sartorial history and in a nod to the sport’s preppy past, L’Etoile Sport offers every style in crisp white.

Featuring sensual and strong feminine silhouettes, the Spring/ Summer 2014 collection offers comfortable luxury separates. Using dusty pink for a bit of serenity and also grey to ground the collection in it’s urban inspiration, the new pieces are sure to complement a fast paced and active lifestyle. T-shirts, tanks, polo’s, lace trim shorts and flare skorts with pleats dominate the collection. The Pique Dress with lace trim is both feminine and sensual and flatters everybody. For an off-the-court look, the Cashmere Sweater or Pointelle Cashmere Hoodie is perfect. Favorite L’Etoile Sport silhouettes also return in this new collection. “I never get tired of our classic pleated skort,” said Co-Founder and Creative Director, Yesim Philip. “Why change what’s working?” Spring/ Summer 2014 skort styles come in different luxury fabrics like textured pique and textured lace. If you want to give it a fun twist, wear it with a tank. For a preppy look, try it with polo. L’Etoile Sport continues to deliver what modern, fashion-forward women want on and off the tennis court. L’Etoile Sport is available at www.letoilesport.com, exclusive clubs such as Isleworth Club, Ocean Reef, Everglades in Florida, Queens Club in London and luxury tennis resorts Rancho Valencia in Southern California, LaQuinta and Vintage Club in Palm Desert and other high-end properties.
